My day job as Editor at AVS Forum requires a fair bit of writing. It also demands a dual-monitor system for all the cutting and pasting. The PC is a Gigabyte gaming laptop with dual 1 TB SSDs, 32 GB RAM and a i7-7700HQ processor (2.81 GHz). It has built in Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics.
For a second display I use the Duet app on an iPad Pro 12.9" connected by WiFi. I like not having to connect with a cable to get a second screen, plus it still works as an iPad so I can use that for email or messaging instead of launching browser tabs on PC.
The main thing I focused on with this system is ease of text entry. I have a Logitech G613 wireless mechanical keyboard (best PC peripheral there is, IMO) as well as a (cheap) USB mic from Amazon that I use for speech recognition with Dragon Naturally Speaking. Often when I'm writing a switch between the two, if it's a technical sentence (speaker specs etc.) typing is better but for simple prose I enjoy using speech recognition instead.
